About Gaiatix

Proving a product is good should be as easy as making it.

Brands today are being asked to prove more than ever. Whether it’s sustainability credentials, cost or compliance of a product, regulators, retailers and consumers all demand answers. While the information usually exists, it’s scattered across people, places and processes and falls apart the moment someone asks a hard question.

Gaiatix exists to close that gap. We give brands, manufacturers and private-label teams a single, connected model of everything they make (products, components, ingredients and packaging) and the calculators to turn it into defensible answers about sustainability, compliance and cost. Model it once; answer with evidence, every time.

We’re starting with cosmetics and personal care, a vertical where ingredient transparency, packaging rules and sustainability claims all collide. From there, we’ll be building outward and collaborating with sectors that need Gaiatix to help them make defensible and demonstrable claims.

What we believe

The principles Gaiatix is built on

Evidence over assertion

A claim is only as good as the data behind it. Everything Gaiatix reports can be traced back to the model that produced it.

Honest by default

We’d rather show the reasoning and the gaps than a confident number nobody can defend. Placeholders say they’re placeholders.

Adaptable, not opinionated

Every business and every regulation is different. The rules live in calculators you control, so the platform bends to you.

Built with customers

Gaiatix is developed in partnership with the brands and manufacturers who use it, so you shape the product to meet need.

The people

Who’s behind it

Toby Russell headshot

Toby Russell

Co-founder

Toby has spent over 25 years building and running technology businesses. He co-founded Opta Sports Data, the company that became football’s definitive statistics provider, later acquired for £40m. He built Coreware, a software consultancy whose platforms served Thomson Reuters, Sky and HSBC, and was a Senior Director of Technology at FTSE 100 RELX.

Most directly relevant to Gaiatix: seven years on the executive team of a global art-materials manufacturer, running technology, digital and e-commerce across five countries. That meant living with the real problem Gaiatix solves: thousands of products, deep bills of materials, ingredient and packaging data spread across systems, and a growing list of sustainability and compliance questions that the existing tools simply couldn’t answer.

Gaiatix is that experience turned into a product: a single, honest model of everything a brand makes, and the calculators to turn it into the answers buyers and regulators demand. It’s built the way Toby believes serious software is now built: a small team, AI-accelerated delivery, and a very short distance between the people using it and the people making it.

Karen Spinner

Co-founder

Karen has spent her career in commercial and brand leadership roles across FMCG, D2C and SaaS, most notably leading the commercial transformation of a three-person tech startup into a multi-million-pound, award-winning business.

She has deep expertise in sustainability, particularly within plant-based businesses, and is an in-demand public speaker on ethical consumerism and product verification. As a board advisor to challenger brands, she has a real understanding of how brands actually build, prove and commercialise sustainability credentials, not just claim them.

Karen co-founds Gaiatix on the commercial and brand side, leading go-to-market strategy, investor narrative and early brand client discovery, shaping the platform to meet the needs of both scaling and existing brands. She shares the conviction at the heart of Gaiatix: that proving a product is good should be as rigorous, and as everyday, as making it.
